Huis de Voorst

In 1695 Arnold Joost van Keppel - Count of Albemarle, Baron of Ashford and Marquis of Bury – ordered to start the construction of Huis the Voorst. It is a copy of Palace Het Loo and soon earned its nickname “The Versailles of the Achterhoek” .

The estate has been owned by several noble families and has been restored in the years 2003 – 2005, after a destructive fire in 1957. Today, the estate is owned by a foundation, which rents it to Exploitatie Albemarle B.V.
